How To Private Message

You may find it handy to communicate with other forum members, other than on the public forum.

For this purpose the forum has a system called private messaging or PM.

This feature is not designed to be a substitute to the forum, but a means of discussing things with other forum users, one to one.

Firstly you need to find a means to select the person you want to PM.

There are a variety of ways to do this, so I have used the search option as the example.

In the picture of the main home screen of the forum, there is a tab at the top which is circled that says “Member List”

When you click on this tab you will get a screen that looks like this.

If you want to search for a particular user name, you can type in the user name into the box at the top of the screen, and click OK, and it will go to that user name if it exists.
Otherwise you can scroll through the list until you find the user name you want.
When you find the one you want you will find a tab beside it which says PM, as per the example in the red circle above.

This is the button you will use if you want to PM another user, you will find it in many different places of different screens of the forum.

Wherever you click on this button from you will get a screen that looks like this.

This is set up basically the same way as the normal post screen for the forum, you have to put in a subject, then type your message in the main box, click preview if you need to, then click send.

The difference with this method is it will only go to the forum user you send it to, rather than to the main forum.

Next I will show you what it looks like when you receive a PM from another forum user.

You will get both a pop up notification, either when you sign in, or when the screen is next refreshed after the message has arrived.

It will look like this.

And you will also get advice at the top of the main screen that advises how many messages you have.
The screen below shows what that looks like circled in red.

You can click on either the pop up notification, or the new message confirmation to get to the new message.

Which ever one you do click on you will get a screen that looks like this.

If you click on the subject title for the message (in this example “Test of PM”) the message will open up and the screen will look like the example below, (Probably with a longer message though)

You can then choose to save the message if you wish, by clicking on the save button, and you can reply directly to the message writer by clicking on Reply.

This is a basic run down of the system, but hopefully it will help make those that want to utilise it more familiar with it.
